Research Methodology

Average sleep time data was collected from publicly available sources, with sufficient and reliable figures found for a total of 37 countries.

The sleep data was then compared with two key health indicators:

  • the country’s Health Grade as determined by the Bloomberg Healthiest Country Index
  • the country’s life expectancy based on World Bank data

Those results were then compared with the country’s average sleep time to examine the similarities and differences around the world
