What is Zoma?
Zoma is the performance-enhancing sleep system designed for athletes and individuals with demanding lifestyles. In order to reach your peak performance, you need optimal sleep and recovery. That’s why we developed a performance mattress , pillow, and foundation to help you sleep your best every night.
Why Did You Start Zoma?
Sleep is a “secret” advantage that can give athletes an edge on the competition. In fact, sleep is the most powerful performance-enhancing tool for the human body. Yet many athletes — even at the highest levels — neglect it. And that can be a serious drain on their performance.
Deep sleep is critical for physical recovery. During this phase of sleep, your body releases potent hormones like GH and IGF-1 to promote muscle growth and recovery.
Without deep sleep, your body can’t heal and grow. That results in lower muscle mass, strength, and endurance during workouts and sports.
REM sleep restores your brain the way deep sleep restores your body. Studies show REM sleep improves muscle memory, mental awareness, and skill acquisition – all things athletes need to thrive.
Sleep does more than increase performance, too. It also decreases injuries. Studies show that a lack of sleep is the number one reason athletes get hurt. Athletes who get enough sleep experience 60% fewer injuries and 54% less illness.
With all the powerful benefits sleep offers athletes, we designed the optimal combination of products to help them get the rest they need. The result is Zoma. Join us to be part of the next generation of athletes who use sleep to power peak performance.
How Did Your Company Start?
Our founders are seasoned experts of the bedding and sleep industry with more than 25 years of experience. They also follow a strict fitness regimen themselves, so our founders knew first hand that sleep is essential for peak performance. And it helped them realize there were many opportunities to enhance the way athletes sleep and recover.
After investing years into research, design, and testing, the team developed a mattress and set of accessories that work together to provide a comprehensive, performance-enhancing sleep system. For athletes and individuals with demanding lifestyles, Zoma’s products give them the sleep and recovery they need to perform their best every day.
Where Are You Based?
Our company headquarters is in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Where is the Zoma Mattress made?
The Zoma Mattress is designed and manufactured here in the US. We incorporate advanced materials and cutting-edge technology to facilitate deeper sleep and faster recovery. We maintain the highest quality control standards. Our mattress is even certified eco-friendly by CertiPUR-US®. Combined, this is how we’ve developed the best mattress for athletes and anyone with a demanding lifestyle.
How long will it take for me to adjust to my Zoma mattress? And what happens if I decide it’s too soft or firm?
Most Zoma customers enjoy better sleep beginning their very first night, because we use materials proven to reduce pressure points up to 49%. But, in rare cases, it may take some time to adjust to your new Zoma mattress.
You probably slept on your last mattress for many years — possibly even decades. During that time, your body became accustomed to the support it received. After that much time, any change to your sleeping surface — even an objectively better one — may cause some initial discomfort. That’s because your body needs to adjust to the new and improved support before it feels comfortable again.
Don’t worry though. If you don’t love your Zoma mattress, you’re protected by our risk-free, 100-night trial. You can return your mattress after the 30-night mark for a full and fast refund. (Returns initiated within the first 30 nights will be subject to a $99 early processing fee since we require customers to sleep on their mattress during the full 30-day adjustment period.)
What kind of foundation should I use with my Zoma mattress?
To deliver lasting comfort, your Zoma mattress needs proper support. We recommend you use a platform or slatted base, with slats that are no more than three inches (3”) apart and at least half an inch (0.5”) thick. (We designed our Zoma Foundation to bring out the best in the Zoma Mattress.)
We don’t recommend using a box spring. But please see the next question if you want to anyway.
Can I use a box spring with my Zoma mattress?
We don’t recommend it. But if you do, you need to place a flat piece of moisture-resistant plywood on top that is at least 0.75 inches thick. This will provide even support across the entire box spring and help prevent moisture from accumulating in your mattress. (Note that using a box spring without the added plywood may void the mattress warranty. That’s why we do encourage you to use the Zoma Foundation.)
Does the Zoma mattress emit harmful gas?
No, the Zoma mattress does not produce any harmful gas. We manufacture the Zoma mattress using an eco-friendly process that minimizes Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which are usually the source of the “memory foam smell” in other foam products.
If you do notice a faint scent after opening your new mattress, don’t worry as it’s not toxic or harmful. It will go away quickly on its own. But if you prefer, you can air out the mattress for a few days before placing it in your bedroom. Just understand that the mattress can be harder to move once it’s expanded and no longer compressed in the box.
I’m a hot sleeper. What can I do to keep cool?
On other mattresses, many of our customers tend to “sleep hot.” But with a Zoma mattress, they stay cool and comfortable without having to do anything at all. That’s because our Triangulex™ layer has an advanced open-cell structure. It allows for better airflow, releasing warm air from the mattress. Plus, we use an ultra-breathable cover to wick away even more heat.
How do I take care of my Zoma mattress?
We’d hate for a spill, accident, or perspiration to ruin your Zoma mattress. That’s why we recommend using a mattress protector. If you don’t get a protector, the mattress can also be gently spot-cleaned with warm water and soap.
Can the mattress get damaged when it’s compressed for shipping?
No, the compression and shipping process does not damage the mattress in any way. In fact, the mattress can stay compressed for up to three months before there is any lasting impact. We promise that our mattresses will stand the test of time — that’s why we offer a 10-year warranty.
What is the Zoma Foundation made of?
We make the side rails, center support, and slats for the Zoma Foundation from durable, 100% solid pine wood. We also wrap the slats in a no-slip fabric enclosure. This ensures the slats are evenly spaced for perfect support, while keeping your mattress in place.
Do I need to use the Zoma Foundation with my Zoma Mattress?
We encourage you to use the Zoma Foundation with your Zoma Mattress. In order to provide you with lasting comfort, the Zoma Mattress needs consistent, even support. We created the Zoma Foundation to provide that level of support — bringing out the best our mattress has to offer in the process.
If you choose not to use the Zoma Foundation, we recommend a platform or slatted base. Note that the slats must be no more than three inches (3”) apart and at least half an inch (0.5”) thick.
We do not recommend using a box spring with the Zoma Mattress. But if you do, you need to place a flat piece of moisture-resistant plywood on top that is at least 0.75 inches thick. This will provide even support across the entire box spring and help prevent moisture from accumulating in your mattress. (Note that using a box spring without the added plywood may void the mattress warranty.)
