What is Zoma?
Zoma is a performance-enhancing sleep system designed for athletes and individuals with demanding lifestyles. In order to feel your best, your body needs time to rest and recover at the end of each day — and the best way to give your body the break it needs is with deep sleep. That’s why we developed a suite of sleep-boosting solutions to provide the slumber you deserve and help you wake up refreshed and revitalized.
Why Did You Start Zoma?
Sleep is the most powerful performance-enhancing tool for the human body. Without deep sleep, your body can’t heal and grow. That results in lower muscle mass, strength, and endurance during workouts and sports.
Not to mention, REM sleep restores your brain the way deep sleep restores your body. Studies show REM sleep improves muscle memory, mental awareness, and skill acquisition — all things athletes need to thrive.
Sleep does more than increase performance, too. It also decreases injuries. Studies show that a lack of sleep is the number one reason athletes get hurt. Athletes who get enough sleep experience 60% fewer injuries and 54% less illness.
Yet many athletes, even at the highest levels, neglect a good night’s rest. A lack of sleep can be a serious drain on performance.
That’s why we started Zoma. Not only do we strive to educate about the powerful benefits of sleep through our blog, but we design and produce mattresses and other bedding accessories to actually enhance recovery and improve sleep quality. Our Zoma mattresses are made with sleep-enhancing materials to keep you sleeping soundly, so you spend more time in deeper sleep stages and make the most of your time spent snoozing.
Join us to be part of the next generation of athletes who use sleep to power peak performance.
How Did Your Company Start?
Our founders have more than 25 years of experience in the bedding and sleep industry. They also follow a strict fitness regimen themselves, so our founders knew firsthand that sleep is essential for peak performance. And it helped them realize there were many opportunities to enhance the way athletes sleep and recover.
After investing years into research, design, and testing, the team developed a mattress and set of accessories that work together to provide a comprehensive, performance-enhancing sleep system. For athletes and individuals with demanding lifestyles, Zoma’s products give them the sleep and recovery they need to perform their best every day.
Where Are You Based?
Our company is headquartered in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona.
What are Zoma mattresses made of?
Our Zoma mattresses contain gel memory foam to keep you cool and offer pressure relief. Other layers include a responsive transition layer and a sturdy base. Zoma mattresses are 100% fiberglass free and made with eco-friendly materials. All the foams in our Zoma mattresses are CertiPUR-US® certified.
Which sleeping position works best with Zoma mattresses?
Your dominant sleeping position is one of the most important factors to consider as you try to find the best mattress. The Zoma Mattress and Zoma Hybrid have a medium feel, making them great options for side sleepers, combo sleepers, back sleepers, and those suffering from back pain. They’re also perfect for couples with different sleep preferences.
Can I use the Zoma mattress or hybrid if I’m not an athlete?
Yes! Though Zoma mattresses are popular with athletes, their breathable, durable, and responsive foams will appeal to any sleeper. The gel memory foam contours to the body’s curves, while the Reactiv™ layer bounces back quickly so you won’t feel stuck. Each layer is designed to work together for optimal recovery and pressure relief, which is something any sleeper would benefit from.
Will my Zoma mattress overheat?
Every part of the Zoma mattress is designed to keep you cool, unlike traditional memory foam beds. The airy cover is a breathable fabric known as AirCloth. It wicks away sweat and moisture without trapping heat. The top layer is infused with gel to further dissipate heat build-up.
Next, the Reactiv™ and base layers will ensure the softer layers above it don’t sink down and make you feel trapped, which can lead to overheating.
Which foundation works best for a Zoma mattress?
You can use the Zoma Foundation with your new Zoma mattress, or any other platform, slatted, or adjustable base. If you choose to use a slatted base, make sure the slats are no more than 3 inches apart so the mattress doesn’t sag or become damaged. Our Zoma mattresses are not compatible with box springs.
What is the Zoma Foundation made of?
We make the side rails, center support, and slats for the Zoma Foundation from durable, 100% spruce pine fir lumber. We also wrap the slats in a no-slip fabric enclosure. This ensures the slats are evenly spaced for perfect support, while keeping your mattress in place.
Do I need to use the Zoma Foundation with my Zoma Mattress?
We encourage you to use the Zoma Foundation with your Zoma Mattress. In order to provide you with lasting comfort, the Zoma Mattress needs consistent, even support. We created the Zoma Foundation to provide that level of support — bringing out the best our mattress has to offer in the process.
If you choose not to use the Zoma Foundation, we recommend a platform or slatted base. Note that the slats must be no more than three inches (3”) apart and at least half an inch (0.5”) thick.
We do not recommend using a box spring with the Zoma Mattress. But if you do, you need to place a flat piece of moisture-resistant plywood on top that is at least 0.75 inches thick. This will provide even support across the entire box spring and help prevent moisture from accumulating in your mattress. (Note that using a box spring without the added plywood may void the mattress warranty.)

What is the Zoma Sports Pillow fill?
The Zoma Pillow contains MicroCushions™, a mixture of shredded foam and polyester fiberfill you can mold to your ideal shape for customized comfort. The cover is a breathable mesh, and combined with the shredded foam fill, you’re unlikely to experience any heat build-up. The MicroCushions™ contain no ozone depleters or toxic flame retardants.
How do I clean my Zoma Sports Pillow?
The hypoallergenic MicroCushions™ inside the Zoma Sports Pillow naturally resist bacterial growth and dust mites. That means you only need to clean your pillow every six to 12 months, and immediately after after any spills.
How to clean the Zoma Sports Pillow cover
- Remove your pillowcase and pillow protector (if you use them).
- Unzip and remove the cover from the Zoma Sports Pillow using the zipper on the side.
- Wash the cover inside out using cold water, a gentle wash cycle, and mild liquid detergent.
- Lay the cover flat to dry. Make sure it dries completely before putting the pillow core back inside the cover.
Cleaning the MicroCushions™ pillow core
- Wash the MicroCushions™ pillow core in a washing machine, using a delicate cycle and mild detergent.
- Dry the pillow core in the dryer on the ‘low’ setting. Ensure the pillow core is completely dry before placing it back into the cover.
What is the height of the Zoma Sports Pillow?
The Zoma Pillow is 6 inches thick, in both the queen and king size. Though the pillow arrives to you compressed in a box, it will quickly expand after unboxing. At 6 inches tall, the Zoma Pillow is a mid-loft pillow, so it works especially well for side and combo sleepers.
Who should use an adjustable bed?
Adjustable bases work well for sleepers with sciatica, Restless Leg Syndrome, poor blood circulation, sleep apnea, or back pain. They were originally only found in hospitals, but now you can purchase one for your own home. Even if you don’t suffer from chronic pain or other sleep disorders, an adjustable bed can enhance your sleep.
What type of mattress can I use with the Zoma Adjustable Bed?
You can use the Zoma Adjustable Bed with memory foam, hybrid, or latex beds. Avoid mattresses that are too thick (over 14 inches), as they will not flex as easily as the adjustable bed moves. We also do not recommend innerspring mattresses with adjustable beds.
Is the Zoma Adjustable bed easy to use?
An adjustable bed can seem intimidating, but the Zoma Adjustable Base is super easy to use! You can program the remote to save certain positions, including Zero-Gravity and Flat. Simply plug the bed into the nearest outlet and adjust it however you wish.
Who should use body pillows?
Body pillows are a go-to for side sleepers and people who want to change their sleep position. Side sleepers, in particular, need a pillow to ensure their spines stay aligned while still cushioning their bodies. The Zoma Body Pillow does just that, thanks to our shredded memory foam fill known as MicroCushions™.
That said, body pillows are just as comfortable and useful for combo sleepers who need extra pressure relief at their knees and for their shoulders. Body pillows are also called “pregnancy pillows,” since they’re also comfy for expecting moms.
Is the Zoma Body Pillow cool?
Yes, the Zoma Body Pillow is infused with gel to dissipate body heat. Plus, the moldability of the pillow ensures you won’t sink down and lose support.
What is the healthiest way to sleep with a body pillow?
The best sleeping position for using a body pillow is side sleeping. If you’re training yourself to switch to side sleeping from another position, using a body pillow is a great way to do that. Lots of people like to hug the body pillow and place the bottom half between their knees for pressure relief and support.
What are the dimensions of the Zoma Body Pillow?
The Zoma Body Pillow measures 52 inches long, 17 inches wide, and 8 inches thick.
What is Tencel?
Tencel is plant-based textile made from wood pulp. The production process for making Tencel is sustainable and eco-friendly. It requires much less water to make than cotton and other popular textiles. Tencel has a soft feel, kind of like silk, and it’s cool-to-the-touch. Because it is plant-based, Tencel is also hypoallergenic.
Are the Zoma Tencel sheets machine-washable?
Yes, you can wash your Zoma Sheets in the washing machine. To maintain a clean sleeping space, try washing your sheets every two weeks.
Is Tencel better than cotton?
Tencel isn’t necessarily “better” than cotton, but it is more sustainable and eco-friendly to make. It has a similar feel to cotton, but it can be more durable, smooth, and resistant to odor.
What sizes do the Zoma Tencel sheets come in?
The Zoma Tencel sheets are available in every standard mattress size, from twin to California king.
Is the Zoma Recover+ Protector waterproof?
Yes, the Zoma Recover+ Protector has a special waterproof barrier to prevent liquid spills from penetrating your mattress. It’s even stain-resistant, making it an essential companion to your new mattress.
Will the Recover+ Protector trap heat?
While waterproof barriers normally trap heat, our Recover+ Protector has an ultrathin waterproof layer that’s highly breathable. Also, the Recover+ textile technology is made to absorb body heat, turning it into infrared energy which increases local blood flow. That way, you sleep cooler.
Do I have to use a mattress protector?
No, but we highly recommend using one. A mattress protector can prolong your bed’s lifespan. Plus, water damage and other stains can void your mattress warranty, so a protector is just another way to prevent having to buy a new mattress before you were planning to do so.
Is the Zoma Balance Pad soft or firm?
The Zoma Balance Pad is made of Reactiv™, a unique foam that offers both cushioning and consistent support. That means you can use it whether you’re trying to soften your mattress, or make it feel firmer. The extra three inches of foam on top of your mattress are sure to change the feel to suit your preferences, so you won’t need to buy a completely different mattress.
Will the Zoma Balance Pad shift around as I sleep?
Unlike other mattress pads, the Zoma Balance Pad is fitted with a non-slip fabric on the bottom. There are no pesky straps you have to attach (and re-attach) to the corners of your bed. Just place it on top of your mattress and slide your sheets and/or mattress protector over the top.
How do I treat stains on the Zoma Balance Pad?
The Zoma Balance Pad is encased in a soft, cooling fabric that is machine-washable. You should only wash it with cold water and hang it up to dry. The foam inside is not machine-washable, so if it gets stained, you will need to spot clean it. We recommend using a mattress protector over the pad to avoid damaging it.
Who should use the Zoma Balance Pad?
If you think your mattress has become too soft, or it’s so firm it’s causing pressure points to develop, the Zoma Balance Pad could be for you. It’s compatible with every sleeping style, including side sleepers, back sleepers, stomach sleepers, and combo sleepers.
Does Zoma offer financing options?

Accessories and mattresses typically do not require a signature for delivery.
Does Zoma assist with tax exemptions if I provide a medical prescription?
Zoma is unable to provide tax exemptions for prescriptions at this time.
Does Zoma accept medical insurance for mattress and adjustable bed purchases?
No. Zoma is not able to apply any kind of medical insurance for purchases.
Which items are eligible for returns & exchanges?
Only mattresses are eligible for returns under our 100-night sleep trial. To ensure optimal adjustment, we ask customers to trial their mattress for at least 30 nights prior to initiating a return. This allows for a thorough experience to truly decide if the mattress is right for you.
All other items including bedding, pillows, foundations, mattress pads, and adjustable beds are final sale and non-refundable. However, warranty terms may still apply.
For adjustable beds, if your adjustable bed hasn’t been delivered yet, we might be able to cancel your order while it’s being prepared for shipment or in transit. However, we would need to charge a 30% restocking fee due to the large and overweight size of the base. If we’re unable to pause the shipment and the base is delivered, cancellation will be unavailable and the item will be considered final sale.
For orders with free gifts or discounted items, please note that the full retail value of the free or discounted items will be deducted from any refunded amounts if the free or discounted items are not returned with the original order.
