With the perfect feel and advanced technology, the Zoma Queen is an unmatched sleep experience.

  • uncrate

"The mattress athletes have always dreamed of"

  • gear patrol

Restorative, restful sleep.

With Triangulex™ and Reactiv™ technology, a Zoma Mattress cools and supports a sleeper throughout the night. Triangle-shaped cutouts add softness and breathability while the middle remains firm to keep the torso lifted. The latex-like Reactiv™ protects the support core and prevents the sleeper from sinking too deeply into the mattress.

Don’t compromise.

We engineered the Zoma Mattress not only to offer a sleeper comfort but to re-energize and restore their bodies. Triangulex™ features a balance of contouring and support, while Reactiv™ adds responsiveness and a bit of bounce to the bed. Our Support+ core provides the bed extra durability by deterring sagging.

Who is a queen size mattress good for?

Queen size mattresses are the top-selling beds thanks to their versatile size.

  • Room to stretch

Though not as large as a king, a queen mattress still offers plenty of room for single sleepers and couples to spread out and get a good night’s sleep.

  • Comfortable for couples

Each half of a couple has 30 inches to themselves, which is room enough for many.

  • Fits most rooms

A queen size mattress can fit into a master bedroom, a guest room, or a studio apartment.

How much to spend on a queen size mattress.

What determines the cost of a mattress? Its materials, yes, but also its warranty, sleep trial, brand name, and any special sleep technologies such as gel-infused foam or lumbar support.

A quick web search can bring up the average price of the mattress type you’re considering to avoid becoming a victim of marketing gimmicks. Less scrupulous sellers, for example, may mark up a mattress to trick a customer into thinking it’s a high-quality bed. What you pay for isn’t always what you get when it comes to mattresses.

The best mattresses provide the right balance of support and comfort—what you need, though, will depend on your sleep position and health conditions. Hot sleepers should look for cooling technologies such as gel memory foam, cutouts, or an innerspring base. Side sleepers will need a mattress with softer, thicker comfort layers (between a soft to a medium feel), which costs more than a firmer mattress as it contains more materials.

If you’re considering a more expensive mattress, then read through its features, warranty, and return policy or sleep trial. Ask yourself if the price seems reasonable for what you’re getting.

Beware that a low-cost mattress might not save you money in the long run. A queen size mattress under $500 may contain low-quality materials such as cheap poly-foam, which will break down much more quickly than memory foam would. If you have to replace your bed within a few short years, you’re not saving as much money as you would if you bought a more expensive, longer-lasting mattress. Quality memory foam mattresses last between 7 to 10 years (or even longer with care and good materials).

If you’re still confused about how to find a good mattress, try taking a look at a mattress’s warranty. Companies determine a warranty length by testing the mattress’s durability, so a warranty gives you an idea of the company’s faith in its product. A company confident its mattress isn’t likely to sag, for example, will offer coverage for smaller indentations.

Queen Size Mattress FAQs

“Best” varies from person to person, as sleep needs are not the same for everyone. A side sleeper with hip pain will need a different mattress than a back sleeper with severe allergies.

Memory Foam
Bed-in-a-box mattresses have boosted memory foam’s popularity. Online retailers have fewer costs to meet and can sell mattresses at a lower price, and memory foam compresses well for easy delivery.

Most memory foam mattresses are constructed with two to three layers of foam, with variations to make a mattress feel soft or firm. The top comfort layer contains memory foam, while the base layer is a stiff foam, often poly-foam. A transition layer can add responsiveness and keep a sleeper from hitting the support layer.

The density of memory foam keeps allergens from penetrating the mattress. Its density, however, can let it trap body heat and disturb a sleeper’s rest. Many manufacturers infuse cooling gels, charcoal, graphite, or copper to absorb and disperse the heat.

Some memory foam mattresses have an unpleasant smell when first opened, known as off-gassing. This smell is caused by chemical compounds breaking down at room temperature and should disappear within a week.

Latex
Latex has a similar feel to memory foam, but manufacturers often make it with more eco-friendly materials. Both Dunlop and Talalay latex are made from rubber tree sap. Polyurethane fillers give Talalay a softer feel; it’s also the more expensive type of latex.

You will find latex mattresses mostly online, with few budget options available. Some sleepers still choose a latex mattress for its durability, as many models last more than a decade.

Innerspring
Innerspring mattresses are conventional and widely available. The coil support layers make for a bouncy and breathable bed, which are the two big draws of an innerspring mattress.

Innerspring mattresses are some of the worse beds for pressure relief, as their thin Euro or pillow tops can’t contour close to a sleeper’s body. Many customers give innerspring mattresses low satisfaction scores, which has allowed other types of mattresses to become popular.

Hybrid
Hybrid mattresses are similar to innerspring beds, with a few differences meant to improve on an innerspring’s design.

Hybrids contain 2 to 3 inches of foam and individually wrapped coils. The foam layer provides more pressure relief by molding to a sleeper’s body while wrapping each steel coil improves the bed’s motion isolation.

Are there different types of queen size mattresses?

While not common, variations of the queen size mattress do exist. Stores rarely carry these other sizes, so your best chance of finding one is by looking online.

Standard Queen
60 inches by 80 inches

California Queen
60 inches by 84 inches

Olympic Queen
66 inches by 80 inches

Split Queen
Two mattresses, each 30 inches by 80 inches

What should I look for when buying a queen size mattress?

When shopping for a mattress, look for:

  • Durable materials: Low-quality foam and thin coils wear out faster than higher-quality, sturdier materials. A mattress’s thickness also impacts its durability, as a thin mattress breaks down more quickly with less material to hold it together. We recommend never buying a mattress less than 10 inches thick.
  • Cooling features: If you’re too hot during the night, it can disturb your sleep. Gel memory foam and other conductive materials absorb body heat, while an open-cell structure and cutouts add breathability.
  • Motion isolation: Couples will want a bed that prevents motion transfer, so the movements of one won’t disturb the sleep of the other. Mattresses with foam layers provide better motion isolation than a traditional innerspring.
  • Hypoallergenic properties: Dense materials prevent allergens from working their way into a mattress, and certified low-VOC foam can provide a chemical-sensitive sleeper a good night’s rest.
  • The right firmness: Side sleepers need a soft to medium mattress, back sleepers a medium-firm to firm mattress, and stomach sleepers a firm mattress.
  • Lengthy sleep trial and warranty: A good sleep trial should last between 90 to 120 days, and the industry standard for a warranty is 10 years.
  • A fair price: You can find more competitive prices online, as online sellers don’t have to mark up a mattress to meet storefront costs.

Can you flip a Zoma memory foam mattress?

No. Manufacturers build memory foam mattresses in layers, with the thickest, most supportive layer on the bottom and the soft comfort layer on top. Flipping it not only changes the bed’s feel but can compromise its support and wear down the comfort layer.

A few memory foam mattresses are double-sided, however. Check the company website before you flip it.

What is the best time of year to buy a Zoma queen size mattress?

Some of the biggest sales days for a mattress are Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Black Friday. Many companies try to clear out old inventory in the new year, so look for deals on New Year’s Day and President’s Day as well.

If you can’t wait for a new mattress, check if the company website has any coupon codes.

How often should you replace a Zoma queen size mattress?

Different types of mattresses have different expected lifespans. Memory foam mattresses, like the Zoma, tend to last seven to 10 years (which is why we offer a 10-year warranty with our beds).

Other mattresses, like innersprings and hybrids, tend to break down after six years, while latex mattresses can last 10 to 15 years—however, we suggest replacing latex mattresses after the 10-year mark for hygienic reasons.

Look at the condition of your mattress. If it’s sagging, lumpy, or causing you pain, it’s time to replace it.

Are hard or soft mattresses better for your back?

Researchers have found medium-firm mattresses are the best mattresses for soothing back pain. These mattresses offer extra support to promote healthy spinal alignment but still offer enough cushioning to alleviate pressure in the shoulders, hips, and lower back. We also recommend searching for a mattress with zoned support technologies, as these are designed to offer relief for sleepers with back pain.

Does a Zoma queen size mattress need a box spring?

We recommend against pairing memory foam mattresses with box springs because they can damage foam layers. While innersprings and some hybrids are still compatible with box springs, foam beds like latex and memory foam mattresses require solid or slatted mattress foundations.

Solid foundations (like platform beds) offer even support for foam layers, which deters sagging. Slatted foundations also offer durable support, it’s just important that their slats are no more than 3 inches apart. If a foundation’s slats are too far apart, the bottom of the mattress can dip between them, resulting in sagging and indentations.

How big is a queen size mattress?

A queen size mattress is 60 by 80 inches, or roughly 5 feet by 7 feet. You should leave about five extra feet of space around the bed for walking or furniture, so your room should be at least 10 by 10 feet to fit a queen size mattress.

What is a good price for a queen size mattress?

It depends on the mattress type, but the average queen size bed runs between $1,000 and $2,000. Special technologies like cooling gel, zoned support, edge support, or hand-sewn materials can make the cost go up. When in doubt, only spend the extra money on technologies that you need for better sleep.

Is a queen the same size as a full mattress?

No, although on some websites they are confused for the same thing, a queen and a full size mattress are not the same. A queen mattress is about half a foot larger (both in width and length).

Is a queen size mattress big enough for two?

A queen gives each person about 30 inches of space to themselves, which suits many couples just fine. In fact, queen size beds are still the most popular size for couples. However, for those who need a little bit more room, there’s always the king size mattress.
